How to Fix and Prevent Warping in Your Tilly Living Cutting Board

What Can I Do If My Tilly Living Grainbond Cutting Board Warps?

We understand how disappointing it can feel to notice your cutting board isn’t sitting perfectly flat. Please don’t worry — Warping is rare and is usually caused by uneven drying— most often when a board is left flat while still warm/wet (e.g. after the dishwasher).

To prevent it, always let the board dry upright so both sides dry evenly.. Our GrainBond Chopping Board is crafted from natural materials, and with that comes a bit of natural movement. The good news? In most cases, warping will either correct itself or can be gently fixed with a simple technique called
counter-warping.

💛Important reminder: Always store your cutting board upright on its side, not flat, so both surfaces can dry evenly.

Why Warping Happens?

1. Uneven Drying

Warping usually occurs when a board is placed flat while still wet. When one side dries faster than the other, the imbalance in moisture can cause the board to bend slightly.

2. Trapped Moisture

If a board is left flat on a countertop after washing (by hand or dishwasher), even a small amount of leftover moisture underneath can become trapped. As that moisture slowly escapes, it may cause the board to warp.

✨ To help prevent this,
we always recommend standing your board upright on its side after washing.

How to Counter-Warp Your Tilly Living Cutting Board

If you notice some warping, don’t worry — this gentle method often helps restore the board beautifully.

Step 1

Wash your cutting board and leave a light amount of moisture on it. Dampen a paper towel and place it on your countertop. Set the board convex side down (arched like a rainbow) or with the corners touching the damp paper towel.

You may also place a lightweight, such as a book, on top to help guide the board back into shape.

Step 2

Allow the board to dry completely for about 24 hours. Patience here truly pays off 🤍.

Step 3

Once dry, store your board upright on its side so both surfaces can breathe and dry evenly, moving forward.

With a little care and love, your Tilly Living cutting board will continue to serve you beautifully for years to come. If you ever need help or have questions, we’re always here — your kitchen happiness truly matters to us.
